Three Instant Product Improvements So You Can Double Your Prices Before Dinnertime

Today I'm asking you why the heck is your product (if you even have one) so freaking identical to everyone else's?

To be honest, most people think all they have to do to create a product is write some stuff in Microsoft Word, save as a PDF, and setup the thank you page and sales letter.

And guess what... they're right!

The good and bad news... most people stop there. Let's just say that's good news because when you put a tiny bit more effort into your product, you can rise above the rest of the crowd.

The first thing you can do is add a pre-sell funnel.  All you need to do is write a couple of articles based on the content of your e-book.  Flip to three random pages of that 10 or 20 page manual, think about what it describes, and write that thing it describes as a question.  Then answer it... there's your article.

If writing an article is hard for you, then pay somebody $10 per article to write a question that answers it.  Do that four times and you're only out 40 dollars.

Or even better, buy private label rights that allows you to turn the information into a free e-course (only if it's stated in the license) and setup your follow-up sequence in just a few minutes.

Don't even overthink it. Create a four-part follow-up sequence in Aweber, plus one additional follow-up asking people why they haven't purchased.  Create a quick PDF report using EzineArticles.  Use that PDF as a bribe to get people to opt-in on a squeeze page.

That way even if they don't purchase immediately, you can keep following up with them, automatically.

Speaking of private label rights, something else I do if I feel worried about getting sales... is buy a private label rights product in my niche, and tack it onto the offer as a bonus.  (We even discussed this in the PLR Copywriting class last night.)  Bam, you've just doubled the value of your product.

Now get this.  The easiest, fastest, and CHEAPEST way to enhance your product's value is to hold a webinar. I tried launching an e-class ONLY on webinars a few months ago, but the launch bombed.

Do you want to know why?  Because most people are CHICKEN about hosting their own webinars!

But the funny thing is, those people that actually overcame their fears and did it, admitted that once that actually tried it, it wasn't that hard.  And using the proper shortcuts, these people became affluent in webinar hosting in just a few short weeks... when otherwise it could have taken months or years.

You simply can't argue with 50 products created in 28 days... especially when 11 of those were made on the same day!

I'm thinking about hosting a new product creation class. With all the products I've launched, plus the fact that I've co-hosted a product creation class before, and even spoken about the subject live, makes me more qualified to teach it than just about anyone else.

Add to that the fact that my webinars get people to actually go out and DO stuff, and you quickly realize there's no one else who can teach you and make you do it like I can.

Would you guys have any interest in taking a product creation class from me?  Even if you've already created products, just to pick up the shortcuts (especially those I've picked up in the last six months), absorb new confidence and skills (like making webinars), and being accountable to take action and finally get that product out there?

Comment below with "yes" or "no"... "yes" meaning you'd join an 8-week product creation class if I offered it.

As your reward, I'll redirect you to a signup page where you can get on a free live webinar with me on Wednesday, July 1st, 2009 to find out how to make a product a day...

  1. Great tips, and yes I’d definitely take a look, although I’m not saying that I would join an 8 week course! – For myself at least, I need more information! 😉

  2. Robert,

when you took that PLR on the warrior forum and plipped in in hours for thousands of dollars and then created camtasia around it….

it taught me a very powerful lesson.

I’ve taught that lesson just today to a client!

  3. haha.

that tweak to the sumbit comment button is GOLD.

when do you dream up these things??

  4. Dave says:

Yes, I’d take a look at such a class.

  5. Robert,
Ever since I met you in person in Orlando, I KNOW that you provide VALUE and over deliver each time you do a presentation.

It is a YES for me.

  6. Neal says:

Yes, I would definitely take a look at your offering.

    Neal

  7. Joe says:

Product creation shortcuts sounds like a good class…YES

  8. Sounds great, Robert. Count me in!

  9. Lucy says:

I always find PLR quick-fixes don’t work out to make a quality product — which your previous post on $7/membership sites, just stated. There seems to be a bit of contradiction here. I think shortcuts never allow for the quality product your customer deserves.

Also, Robert I emailed you a week ago about a specific PPC question — another contradictory piece of advice I think you should address in a blog post. However, it seems you only reply to comments and not to email.

  10. Erick says:

I would definitely be interested. Yes.

  11. Robert Plank says:

that tweak to the sumbit comment button is GOLD.

I tried to use the GoToWebinar code with Action Comments so people could sign up to the webinar with one click, but it didn’t agree with it for some reason. So I added in the redirect.

  12. Edward Manning says:

yes – very interested in a product eclass.

But PLEASE – think about us poor international buyers – I’m not as young as I once was and can’t do a 12 hour day at work on only a couple of hours sleep. So – PLEASE (please?) can the webinar be at a reasonable time for us Europeans? Or maybe have replays available of the 1st July webinar for those of us who can’t stay up to watch a webinar till 3 in the morning and then get up at 5. Pretty please?

    Thanks 🙂

  13. Debbie says:

I’d be interested in a course like that. But again, it depends on the timing and other factors. So it’s a qualified yes.

  14. Dennis says:

    Hi Robert,

Yes, I’d be interested in checking it out.

So judging by your post above can we expect it to be ready tomorrow? 🙂

  15. Eugene Humbert says:

Ummm… My problem is lack of concentration due to medication I’m taking to kill the pain in my legs. I can’t concentrate on things for any length of time.

So… taking a live class without video backup to reinforce it would be contraproductive to me.

Combine that with a lack of funds (Wife and I are both retired and living on fixed income), and taking such a class would be problematical. But yes, I’d love to do so, if it was financially within my range, and had adequate backup so I could review the material.

  16. I was someone who was nervous about hosting webinars. Last year I held one every day for 10 days, invited anyone who could make it, and perfected my skills. Everything is easy, once you know how to do it.
Yes, a product creation class sounds fantastic.

  17. Brad Spencer says:

    Hey Robert,

I’d probably look at an 8 week class although I’m working through a lot of training material right now and launching products each week.

However, I’m on board for your July 1 webinar. We’ll see how it goes.

I am curious about your opinions on quantity vs. quality. In finance, most things with value are scarce so there seems to be a logical contradiction between creating tons of products vs. building a few really really good ones that are timeless.

Just an observation…not attacking you by any means. Your blog rocks and I love the new posts.

    Cheers,

    Brad Spencer

You need to put a bunch of products out there to see what people actually buy, and also to build a list. Once you have those two things then you can spend time making more of the same stuff people want to buy. Quantity first, then quality…

  19. Ron says:

    Nice tips Robert.
    Yes, I’d be interested

  20. Scott Thrall says:

No who wants a product creation class…Isn’t it better to just promote someone elses product and build their brand?

Ok reality check, the real answer is YES….Always looking at other ideas for product creation.

  21. Robert Plank says:

No who wants a product creation class…Isn’t it better to just promote someone elses product and build their brand?

All the top affiliate marketers have their own products… coincidence? 🙂 Having your own product means you can offer great bonuses for buying through your link.

  22. “Don’t even overthink it. Create a four-part follow-up sequence in Aweber, plus one additional follow-up asking people why they haven’t purchased. Create a quick PDF report using EzineArticles:…

    Robert,

Please amplify the above…”Create a quick PDF report using EzineArticle:…”

    ————————————————

Yes…would be interested in your webinar..

    “Deliver it faster than email”

  23. Robert Plank says:

Please amplify the above…”Create a quick PDF report using EzineArticle:…”

    – which article are you referring to?

Use articles from EzineArticles (with the resource boxes intact) as your free bribe for opting in.

  24. Jeff Bode says:

    Yes

It’s easy to add value to an eBook product, you can take your eBook and create a video or videos explaining different parts of the eBook + create an action plan or checklist…

Simply by using the same eBook information and maybe adding a little to it.

Then add some related PLR for bonuses…

I’m doing this right now and I know it will have a much higher perceived value…

  25. Andy Erickson says:

    Yes

  26. Sharon Deloy says:

    Hi Robert:
I would definitely be interested in a product creation class but only if you would be the instructor or you and Jason.
I am a member of Daily Seminar and love your stuff. You get down to the nitty-gritty and offer great value and no hype.
    Count me in!

  27. Audre says:

I’d love to learn how to do a teleseminar and webinar, and turn them into multiple products. I’ve got all sorts of ideas simmering….:)

  28. Steve says:

    Like Audre, I’d like a “webinar” How-To.
Sorry, someone beat you to the punch on creating info-products. For a tidy sum I’m committed to a two day weekend webinar on the subject. She gives more of herself than anyone else I’ve found online. Otherwise I’d be interested.

  29. Audre says:

“…As your reward, I’ll redirect you to a signup page….”

I didn’t get a redirect, Robert. Did I need to literally say YES? Okay then. Yes!

  30. Rodney says:

I think I’d have to say YES to a class on product creation. I’m almost done with my newest product. I’ll show it to you when it’s finished.

  31. Rodney says:

Hey I didn’t get a redirect to sign up for the webinar.

  32. Daviette says:

yes…I would love to be a part of a ‘live’ product creation class given by yourself and Jason. Thanks for all you do!

  33. Robert Plank says:

Shoot… for some reason it wasn’t redirecting after you left a comment.

But it looks like it is now! And I’ve personally e-mailed most of you who left a comment with a link to register for the webinar.

  34. Yes, Robert. Of course! Your classes rock!
And those were great tips in your post too 😉

And I’d like to learn more about creating products that sell more and for higher prices too.

    Thanks.

  35. Nick says:

There is no option but to say yes. Why would I not learn from a master?

  36. Nat says:

    Hi Robert,
Yes, I would be interested in your product creation class. Thank you.

  37. Isobel says:

Yes of course! Your classes are so action-oriented and you have so much energy, I can’t help but DO something!

  38. Isobel says:

Qualifier to my previous comment: 1:00 – 3:00am BST? Have a heart! lol Those of us NOT in the US would really appreciate a different timeslot.

  39. Kevin Baker says:

    Robert,

    YES.

I have done webinar crusher, PLR, blogging and video sales tactics since january to name but a few.

I like your no-nonsense get it done style and for the most part you do make people accountable. Which is what most honest marketers would tell you.

    So bring it on.

    Kevin

  40. Sean says:

    Yes! Sounds great!

  41. patrick says:

Hi Robert, I’d be really interested in a class. I’d love to find out more about webinars, php, etc too…

    Patrick

  42. how about…

“the only way to get an exclusive invitation to the webinar is to post a comment below….”

    that’d get you comments…

    or…

I’ll be holding a special webinar for all buyers of my “Time Management on Crack” report.

the only way in is to leave your comments/testimonials/feedback here…

and the more detailed your feedback, the closer you are to the beginning of the que when I take your live questions…”

  43. Yes. I want to become a product creation factory. And I love doing webinars with you.

  44. John Deck says:

Very temping, but I would have to say no at this time. I am in the middle of three projects and need to keep focused.

    John

  45. I’d definitely be interested but, since I’m in Thailand, I echo Edward Manning’s plaintive cry caused by different time zones. I’m 11 hours ahead of EST, so what is a convenient time for you is the middle of the night for me. If you could make the webinars available for download after the fact, that would solve any time zone problems.

The biggest problem I have with that, though, is that nobody ever does any editing to cut out the pauses and coughing and hmms and inane comments, and the webinar file is usually huge.

  46. It would be so great to have someone actually show me How to create my own product! Yes I would try to signup..I have limited funds

  47. Faith says:

The pre sell funnel technique with the use of articles is brilliant. Most of the time I overcomplicate things and make things so much harder than they are.

    Thanks for the free tip.

    +Faith

  48. TipJar says:

    Yes, ABSOLUTELY

  49. Massimo says:

    YES, BUT …
I live in a different time zone, so I need a downloadble webminar

  50. Bob says:

Yo Robert–yes, I’m interested in the product creation class. Also, open up the PLR and webinar classes for access to those of us who didn’t get in at the time they were held. Great comment about not “overthinking”–my take away for the day. Regards……

  51. jacques says:

yes, robert, I´m interested. what would be the days, times and pricig?

  52. Hi,

Yes I would join a class from you – the products I have purchased from you have been good value

  53. John says:

Count me in Robert if the price is right!

  54. Wayne says:

Yes, I would definitely be interested but I would need much more information and it depend on the price (I am already seriously in debt.)

I like the taking a question out of the eBook and turning it into an article tip – thanks!

  55. Daniel Hall says:

I would definitely be interested as well… Thanks.

  56. Nathan Briggs says:

    Yep, I’m in.

  57. Liz Tufte says:

Yes, Robert, I’d be interested. Thanx.

  58. Plank,

This comment strategy is working for you I see! I just want to let you know, I am stealing it. But doing so ethically by telling you that I’m stealing it, first.

    -Jack Humphrey

  59. Robert Plank says:

Jack, you’re one crazy mofo… even if you are a little late. A bunch of other people have already stolen it (which is a good thing). When’s the next time you’re going to a live event?

  60. yes I’m up for it

    Gavin

  61. Jack: Just say you’re modeling it- that is the trendy way to say “ethically stealing”.

Robert: Great post as usual. But “product in a day”- are you slowing down now that you’re getting older? 🙂 I thought that by now you would have figured out how to do a 2-hour webinar in 10 minutes.

  62. Hank Scott says:

Sure, yes I’d give it a look.

Eight weeks seems a bit long though…

Just a thought not having seen the full offer yet.

    Hank

  63. Robert Plank says:

    Hank,

What would be a better length?

  64. Barbara J Gathany says:

Would definitely be interested as you always seem to come up with great ideas.
I also think that eight weeks is a great length for a course.

  65. Tom B. says:

    Hi Robert,

Yes – I’d be interested in learning more about your product creation class and getting access to your July 1st webinar.

As other people have mentioned, it would be very helpful if your product creation class was made available for download so that if I couldn’t attend it live I would be able to view it at a later time at my convenience. It would also help the people who could attend the live class so they could review your material over and over again.

    Tom B.
